The Student Leaders: Out Current Agenda by Iza Munir Hamdani

On the behalf of the Year 11 Student Leaders (though we seem to be better known as ‘Prefects’), I’d like to say ‘hey’. I hope that everyone has settled in and is happy with the way in which the first few weeks of school have played out.
For those of you who are interested, I thought I’d take a moment to fill you in on what we have been working on as a team.
So far, it’s been Mufti Day - I can practically hear the sound of everybody’s excited cheer at the mere sound of the words. Although Mufti Day is a tradition at GIS, and has been consistent for a [really, really] long time, we have come together with Ms. Capstick, Ms. Sham (who are the heads of Community Service here at GIS) and Ms. McGregor (the new head of Student Leaders), and we've planned for some minor changes. Admittedly, the vast majority of the Student Leaders weren't up for this change – myself included. But now that we've started adapting to the concept of it we realize that there’s a lot we can do to keep you well informed about which charities we’re working with, and also give you an amazing time on the actual day. As you may know, our overall theme at GIS this year is ‘empathy’, and we decided to try and integrate that into Mufti Day this year. We've been looking towards really building our relationships with the charities that we work with, and maybe with this we can raise awareness and help them out more often throughout this year, and many more years ahead. For the moment, I suppose that’s as much as I can let you know, but I really do hope that you’ll contribute to and enjoy Mufti Day this year, and embrace the changes we have made. I know I will!

Thank you for reading!
PS – As soon as I can tell you more, I will.
